PPI is not meaningful without a viewing context
Pixels per inch is not meaningful without an output context. A small print held close and a large print viewed across a room can use the same image pixels very differently because each pixel occupies a different visual angle. This planner makes the viewing-distance assumption visible instead of treating one PPI number as a universal print threshold.

At a 24-inch viewing distance and a one-arcminute criterion, the geometric reference is about 143 PPI. At 48 inches, it is about 72 PPI. Doubling distance approximately halves the PPI needed for the same pixel angle. That relationship helps explain why a large wall print can be appropriate at a lower PPI than a small print inspected closely. It does not tell you whether the image has useful detail, whether sharpening is appropriate, or how a particular paper and printer will render it.
Use the comparison as a planning input. First decide where and how a print will actually be seen. Then compare crop, print dimensions, image pixels, and viewing distance. Make a proof at the intended size when fine detail matters. A proof includes subject detail, focus, processing, paper texture, printer behavior, lighting, and the viewer's real distance, none of which a PPI equation can settle alone.
