About ImageReason

Photography and imaging have plenty of isolated calculators, plenty of education, and plenty of hardware tools, but very little that connects them to an actual decision. Knowing that a crop factor is 1.5x does not tell you which lens to bring. A histogram does not tell you what to fix in the edit. ImageReason exists to close that gap: it turns a photographic variable, or an actual image, into a usable next step.

What a tool here actually does

A tool never stops at arithmetic if a meaningful next inference is available. It gives the direct answer first, then, where it genuinely helps, shows the physical or image consequence, names the limiting factor, compares real alternatives, shows how the result moves under a different condition, and turns the outcome into an action for the shoot or the file. Not every tool needs every one of those stages; a unit conversion does not need an essay, and a camera-system equivalence decision might reasonably need most of them.

Where a real image fits in

Some questions are not hypothetical: a photographer already has the file and wants to know what it shows. Where that's the case, a selected image is decoded and inspected directly in the browser, and the result feeds back into the same decision the tool is built around, never as a separate identification or authenticity claim.

What it deliberately isn't

There is no account, no cloud project, no image upload, and no per-analysis API call running somewhere else. Nothing here identifies faces, verifies authenticity, or makes a medical, forensic, or surveillance claim about an image. Every calculation and every local image inspection runs on your device, and a tool that goes viral does not create a bill.

See the Methodology page for how a result is actually derived and where its limits are documented.
