Print sharpening is an output-stage decision, but a number alone cannot know the image, paper, printer, viewing distance, or resizing path. Start by confirming the final crop and output dimensions. Then make a proof through the actual process and inspect it at the intended distance. Preserve a master so output-specific work never becomes the only copy.
A 6000×4000-pixel file gives 500 PPI at 12×8 inches and 250 PPI at 24×16 inches. Those values describe available pixel density, not whether the print needs more or less sharpening. A matte surface, a glossy surface, different printers, and different subject detail can make one numeric recipe misleading. Record the output path, proof it, and adjust only from what the physical output shows.
