The interval carries a temporal commitment

A time lapse compresses a real duration into a delivery duration through frame count and interval. The interval is not automatically "right" because the scene, movement, exposure time, and camera recovery time matter. This planner exposes the temporal commitment and the slack available between frames before you discover the intervalometer cannot keep up.

Ten seconds delivered at 24fps needs 240 frames. At a five-second interval, that means 20 minutes of capture. With a half-second exposure and one second of settle time, each interval leaves 3.5 seconds of stated slack. Reduce the interval or lengthen the exposure and the margin disappears. Test the real sequence and reserve battery and storage beyond the calculated minimum.
