Panorama planning is coverage arithmetic plus capture discipline. A lens field of view tells you what one frame can see; overlap determines how much new scene each following frame contributes. The resulting frame count is a starting plan, not proof that software can stitch a scene with nearby foreground, repeated patterns, moving people, changing light, or a drifting camera position.
A 35mm lens on a 36mm-wide sensor covers about 54.4 degrees horizontally. For a 120-degree panorama with 30 percent overlap, the geometry calls for three frames. Raising overlap increases stitching margin but also increases the number of frames and the chance of subject movement across them. Lock exposure and white balance, make a consistent turn, and add a safety frame where the scene has low detail or moving elements.
This result models the values you entered. It cannot see the scene, verify focus or movement, predict camera-specific processing, or guarantee the final photograph. Use it as a stated starting point, then check the important subject area in a test frame or proof.

- Will this guarantee that my panorama stitches?
- No. It only plans geometric coverage. Parallax, motion, exposure changes, scene texture, and capture technique can still prevent a clean stitch.
- Why no universal best setting?
- There is no universal best setting because the relevant tradeoff changes with the subject, light, movement, output, and the part of the image that matters. This tool makes the stated tradeoff visible rather than hiding it behind a generic recommendation.
