A capture checklist, not a blending tool

A nightscape foreground and sky can have different capture constraints. The useful plan keeps them separate while recording what must remain consistent if you intend to align them later: position, focal length, focus, time gap, moving elements, and the intended description of the final work. This is a capture checklist, not a blending tool.

An untracked sky capture and a longer foreground capture from the same locked position can share framing while still differ in motion, light, and time. If the foreground is captured an hour later from another position, the plan should show the alignment and scene-change questions instead of treating it as one exposure. Preserve originals and document the actual capture path before editing.

This is a planning calculation, not a certification. Confirm the relevant camera, lens, card, printer, contract, location, or workflow constraint in the real setup before relying on the result.

Make one controlled test with the important variable held constant. Inspect the subject detail, motion, highlights, and intended output, then adjust the setting that protects the priority you named.

FAQ

Can this blend my nightscape automatically?
No. It documents capture constraints and a test plan. It does not align, merge, or validate images.
Is this a guarantee?
No. The result is bounded by the inputs and assumptions shown on the page. It is designed to support a better next decision, not replace a test, measurement, proof, or professional judgement where one is needed.
