A curve only earns a comparison under matched conditions
MTF and SFR describe how contrast response changes with spatial frequency under a defined test. They are not one universal sharpness number. A curve only earns a direct comparison when the units, aperture, distance, position, measurement method, and other stated conditions align. This interpreter makes those conditions visible before it lets a lower response become a useful constraint.
At one matched 30 lp/mm centre test, a response of .50 is lower than .65 by .15. That is a valid observation about the entered conditions, not a verdict on either lens. If one curve is at f/2.8 and another at f/5.6, or one uses lw/ph while another uses lp/mm, the tool refuses to announce a winner. Use matched data to guide an actual capture test at the aperture, focus distance, motion level, and output size that matter.
