Read the settings in your file without sending it anywhere
An image can carry useful capture details: shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length, camera model, orientation, and sometimes a lens or metering tag. That information is often called EXIF metadata. It can be useful when you want to understand a test frame, reproduce a starting point, or see whether an export preserved its capture settings. It is not a complete history of the photograph, and it is not proof that a file is original or unedited.
This viewer processes the image you choose in your browser. The file, its pixels, embedded metadata, filename, and results stay on your device. If a field is present and readable, the page labels it as recorded in this file. If it is missing, unreadable, or unsupported, the page says which of those states applies. It does not invent a camera model, ISO, lens, timezone, or location from the look of the image.
When shutter speed, aperture, and ISO are available together, the viewer can calculate their EV100 relationship. That is useful for comparing settings, but it is not a meter reading for the scene and does not prove two cameras will produce the same noise or highlight behavior. Use the exposure planner to test equivalent settings for the next frame, then meter and check the actual scene.
Location information is handled more conservatively. The viewer will tell you whether location metadata appears to be present, but it does not display coordinates in version one. Camera serial numbers and image unique identifiers are never shown or copied. A software tag is likewise just a tag: it can indicate what the file reports, not prove the entire editing history.
If the capture settings are absent, that is still a useful result. Many platforms strip metadata during export or sharing, and some formats or browsers do not expose every field. The absence of a field does not tell you who removed it or why. Start from the confirmed facts, then use the framing, depth, and exposure tools to plan the new photograph rather than treating an old file as a complete recipe.

- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. The file and its analysis stay in the browser on your device. The page does not send image bytes, metadata, or results to analytics.
- Why are some settings missing?
- The file may never have contained them, an export may not include them, the format may expose them differently, or this browser may not support reading them.
- Does metadata prove an image is original?
- No. Metadata is information reported by a file. It can be absent, changed, or incomplete and should not be treated as provenance proof.
