Local Image Analysis Lab

What do the RGB channels in this region actually show?

Choose a region in your local image and see its average channel ratios, a local observation, not evidence of the scene's correct white balance.

A local observation, not a correction

A decoded image can show that one selected region contains more red, green, or blue signal than another. It cannot tell you what the scene's "correct" white balance was. The subject itself may be coloured, the light can have a complex spectrum, and processing or colour management can change the pixel values you see. This tool keeps the observation local and explicit.

A selected sample averaging RGB 128, 120, and 100 has R/G about 1.067 and B/G about .833. That is a measurement of the decoded sample, not a correction instruction. If the sample is a known neutral card captured in the same light, it may support a workflow check. If it is a wall, fabric, skin, or sky, the ratios can simply describe the subject. Compare regions, check clipping and profiles, then verify visually in the editor.

Your selected file is processed in this browser. Image bytes, metadata, filename, pixels, and derived results are not uploaded or sent to analytics. A rendered-file measurement is not proof of RAW data, scene conditions, provenance, or artistic quality.

The optical values here are ideal geometric limits, not measured lens performance. Focus, motion, aberrations, subject contrast, sensor processing, crop, and output can change practical detail.

Make one controlled test with the important variable held constant. Inspect the subject detail, motion, highlights, and intended output, then adjust the setting that protects the priority you named.

FAQ

Can this fix my white balance automatically?
No. It never identifies a true neutral or applies a correction. It provides a private local observation to help you inspect a controlled reference.
Is this a guarantee?
No. The result is bounded by the inputs and assumptions shown on the page. It is designed to support a better next decision, not replace a test, measurement, proof, or professional judgement where one is needed.
