A bracket is a deliberate test, not a switch
A bracket is a deliberate set of exposures around one reference, not a magic HDR switch. The useful decision is how much range to test, how close the steps should be, and whether the scene can remain stable while you make them. This planner turns those choices into actual settings and keeps the capture risks visible.
From 1/125 second, f/5.6, ISO 100, a three-frame one-stop shutter bracket is 1/250, 1/125, and 1/62.5 second. That is two stops of total span around the reference. A five-frame two-stop sequence spans eight stops, but adds time and makes moving leaves, people, water, or changing light harder to reconcile. Choose the smallest sequence that answers the highlight and shadow question, then inspect the actual frames.
