Anamorphic framing begins with a squeezed capture rectangle and ends with an unsqueezed delivery rectangle. The squeeze factor changes the displayed aspect ratio; the delivery ratio can then require a crop or unused area. Keeping those stages separate prevents a composition that looks safe on set from losing a critical edge after desqueeze.
A 4096×2160 capture with a 1.33× squeeze becomes about 5448×2160 before delivery framing, roughly 2.52:1. Delivering at 2.39:1 in crop mode removes about 5.23 percent of width. That is geometry, not a quality verdict. Record the exact squeeze convention, frame with a safe overlay, and test a real clip through the intended desqueeze and delivery path.
